Alberta...Oil and More

During the past decade, Alberta has been recognized as the most prosperous region in the American continent – and one of the most successful in the world. Indeed, it is the only jurisdiction in the Americas to be debt-free.

This status has been achieved, largely based on revenue to the government from development of Alberta’s significant energy resources.

The Government of Alberta has, from the outset, been instrumental in supporting the development of the energy industry, in all its formats.

While it remains committed to the energy production figures, it is now also committed to the diversification of the provincial economy by – among other initiatives – supporting the development of a new  bioeconomy, for the province, with a plan of being one of the world's leading jurisdictions in this sphere by 2020.
