Welcome Message from the Director

The Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), during its short period of operation, has been involved in a large number of collaborative R&D projects in the areas of energy, environment, advanced functional materials, informatics, multimedia and internet technologies, e-commerce, bio-informatics, transportation, agrobiotechnology, etc.





 One of the main objectives of CERTH's strategy is to further strengthen its collaboration with Greek and international industries and enterprises through its technology transfer policies and wide dissemination of its R&D results and technologies.

 Another goal of CERTH is to maintain its leading position as a center of excellence with the newly established European Research Area (ERA). Thus, CERTH places a strong emphasis on R&D activities consistent with the objectives of the 7^th European Framework Program and future technological developments linked with the international industries. At the same time, CERTH actively promotes its collaborations with Greek academic and research institutions as well as with industries in accordance to the R&D policies of Greek Operational Program for Competitiveness (2007 - 2013).

 CERTH's future efforts will be focused on the accomplishment of the following objectives: 

• Maintains its position as a Centre of scientific and technological excellence in Greece, Europe and world-wide
• Establishment of new Institutes in the areas of Manufacturing and Economic Development
• Extensive international networking, especially, with Southen European and other Mediterranean countries
• Establishment and coordination of research and technological platforms of national interest (in energy, environment, health, nanotechnologies ICT, etc.)
• Increase of the  competitiveness of the Greek and European industries through technological advances
• Stimulation of business and economic development of Northern Greece, via technology transfer policies
