Best paper award in the framework of two International Conferences

Best paper award in the International Conference: “The role of biorefineries in European agriculture”

The poster entitled "Growth study of an E.coli GMO strain incapable of catabolizing  lactic acid in mixtures of organic acids and simple sugars" by A. Nastouli, S.I. Patsios, M. Harasek, and A.J. Karabelas from the Chemical Process and Energy Resources Institute of CPERI/CERTH and the Institute of Chemical, Environmental and Bioscience Engineering of TU Wien, received the 1st prize award at the Biorefine Conference "The role of biorefineries in European agriculture", which was organized by the Biorefine Cluster Europe and took place in Ghent, Belgium on 30 and 31 May 2022. The presented study, in the context of the R&D project "AgRefine: A Disruptive Innovative Cooperative Entrepreneurial (DICE) education, training and skills development programme rolling out the next generation of Agri Biorefinery and Valorisation Bioeconomy leaders", was financially supported by the European Union through Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation Programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (GA: 860477).


 

Best paper award in the International "Yeast Lipid Conference”

The poster entitled "Novel evolved Yarrowia lipolytica strains for enhanced growth and lipid content under high concentrations of crude glycerol", by A. Tsirigka, E. Theodosiou, S.I. Patsios, A.Tsoureki, A. Andreadelli, A. Aggeli, A.M. Makris and A.J. Karabelas from the Laboratory of Natural Resources and Renewable Energies of CPERI/CERTH, the Institute of Applied Biosciences of CERTH and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, received a Best Poster Award at the 15th International Yeast Lipid Conference (YLC), which was held in Gothenburg, Sweden at Chalmers University of Technology on 1-3 of June, 2022. The presented study, in the context of the R&D project "GLYC2BIOD: Valorization of raw glycerin from the biodiesel industry by-product streams for production of 2nd generation biodiesel and protein supplements for fodders through novel biotechnological approaches", was co‐financed by the European Union and Greek national funds through the Operational Program Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, under the call RESEARCH – CREATE - INNOVATE (project code: Τ1EDK--02871)
