Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R)

The European Charter and the Researchers Code

The European Charter & Code for Researchers, published by the European Commission in 2005, sets the general principles for the role, responsibilities and rights of researchers and their employers or funders of their research.

The Charter and the Code contributes to achieve an open and transparent labor market for researchers in the European Research Area (ERA), aiming at making attractive the research careers in Europe and thus to attract and if possible to retain research talents in the European research area.

The Human Resources Strategy for Researchers and the Logo of Excellence in Human Resources in Research

The Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) supports their implementation of the Charter and the Code. The implementation of the principles of the Charter and the Code by the institutions makes them attractive for researchers who are looking for a new employer or financier of their research project.

The European Commission awards with the HR Excellence in Research Logo the institutions that develop a strategy, based on their 40 principles of the Charter and the Code, for their human resources.
