The “OIS AIR Network” unlocks the innovation potential in the Adriatic Ionian (ADRION) Region

As from 1st of January 2021 CERTH through its Extroversion Services Unit, holds the management of the OIS AIR Network. CERTH together with other 6 partners representing research, academia, innovation, policy and business communities in the ADRION region, established OIS AIR Network in order to boost the innovation potential of the area. After working for two years they managed to identify common technological priority areas based on common challenges and develop a set of innovation support services both for SMEs and research teams. Capstone of this effort was the elaboration of a pilot Macro-regional S3, the provision of 10 innovation vouchers to support the best transregional R2B innovation projects and the provision of more than 150 free of charge innovation services to SMEs of the ADRION region. These activities and the action plan for the continuation of the Network’s operation were presented on November 26th 2020 during a web conference that was attended by stakeholders from the quadruple helix of the Adriatic Ionian Region. The conference illustrated the positive impacts of transregional cooperation to technology transfer activities attracting the interest of JRC executives as well.

Today the Network counts 14 members. CERTH priorities in relation to the network’s management is to upgrade the OIS AIR platform into a vivid innovation market place and mobilize the involvement of more members especially from the business community that seems more difficult to attract.

The OIS AIR Network operates under the OIS AIR project – Establishment of the Open Innovation System of the Adriatic-Ionian Region that is financed by Interreg ADRION EU Programme, with the participation of AREA Science Park Trieste, Technology Park Ljubljana, Croatian Chamber of Economy, Science Technology Park Belgrade, Center for Research and Technology Hellas, University of Basilicata, and Ministry of Finance and Economy of Albania.
