The Laboratory of Inorganic Materials (LIM) of the Chemical Process Engineering Research Institute conducts focused research in the field of inorganic materials science and technology and consists, after its establishment in the year 2001, one of the seven laboratories of the Institute.
Laboratory was established on 1st of May 2001 in co-operation with the International Evaluation Committee introduction of the Institute in 2000. Today, laboratory takes place of almost 500 square meters total area at the first floor and the basement of 1st Sector of the buildings of the Centre for Research & Technology - Hellas. Laboratory offers 14 positions in new scientists while in parallel offers education opportunities in advanced scientific fields to an important number of undergraduate and post-graduate students, contributing that way in scientific and technological improvement of the country.
The strategical development of the laboratory was firstly based provision of researching services in international industry. Those services was refered either to the development of basic scientific knowledge and understanding of specific effects and problems, the development of new materials for new applications, or simple measurements provision. The successful economical development of the laboratorys' above activities was supported by the General Secretariat for Research and Development of the Ministry of Development, having as a conclusion the creation of reverse funds for bying scientific equipment and the general infrastructure improvement of laboratory.
Setting as target the promotion of knowledge based innovation through the conduction of fundamental and applied scientific research, LIM has managed to develop research activities either through bilateral cooperations with the national and international industry or through its participation in national and european research programs.
Today, the scientific labour of the laboratory numerates more than 69 Publications in International Scientific Journals, 14 International Patents and a large amount of participations in International and National scientific conferences.
