EU 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Rome
[March 2007]

After the Messina Conference of 1 and 2 June 1955, where the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the six Member States affirmed their willingness to create a unified Europe, the Treaties of Rome were signed in the Capitol, Rome, on 25 March 1957, bringing about the EEC and Euratom.
