SMART
, a project within the 6th EU Framework Programme (www.smart-ssa.net), is mapping materials activities throughout Europe to identify future materials needs on behalf of the European Commission. “Materials for a Better Life” - a roadmapping workshop, is one of a series dealing with core future areas of activity: materials for a better life, personal security and energy.
The aim of this workshop is to identify the role materials play in enhancing the quality of life within the European population and will include biomaterials, packaging and technical textiles. A roadmap will then be developed to provide support to the European Commission concerning future decisions on research strategies and funding within Framework 7 and beyond.
